
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Mai congratulated the Hungarian Consul General for successfully completing her term in the city, showing his respect and acknowledgement of her contributions during her working term, which he said contributed to the development of relations between Vietnam and Hungary, and between Ho Chi Minh City and Hungary.
Regarding the issues that the Hungarian Consul General was interested in, including water management, agriculture and digital transformation, he confirmed that the city would continue to pay attention to the cooperation. In terms of educational cooperation, the city will continue to promote cooperation with Hungarian schools. “This will not only contribute to human resource training but also promote relations between the two countries,” he said, adding that the city is also interested in boosting cooperation in culture with Hungry.
According to Mr. Mai, the city will cooperate with the next Hungarian Consul General to promote investment in trade and tourism. He sent his best wishes to the Consul General and affirmed his commitment to creating close conditions with the Hungarian Consulate General to promote cooperation between the two sides.
Hungarian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Szojka Éva Szilvia said that in 2022, the Hungarian Consulate General coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City to organize many activities on food, culture, tourism and education to enhance exchange connections. The Hungarian government is very interested in educational cooperation in Vietnam, and every year it offers scholarships to Vietnamese students. “There are about 900 Vietnamese students studying in Hungary and the number of students is also increasing,” she said.
According to Ms. Szojka Éva Szilvia, the number of students plays an important role in strengthening people-to-people relations between the two countries. Currently, there are two areas of cooperation between the university, medicine and tourism, and she added she hoped her successor will join Ho Chi Minh City in new cooperation directions such as water management and agriculture, and digital technology.
On this occasion, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai presented the Ho Chi Minh City Badge to Ms. Szojka Éva Szilvia for her contributions in promoting relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Hungary./.
